چکیده

A short investigation was devised by Department of Agricultural Entomology, Tamil Nadu University, Coimbatore in 2022 to document the arthropod composition sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) ecosystem. Arthropod fauna collected from ecosystem farmers’ field at Puthur district, weekly intervals. Totally, 2,310 individuals subclass Pterygota were and among them most specimens belonged Exopterygota. The exopterygota (1,029) represented 5 orders, viz. Hemiptera, Odonata, Orthoptera, Isoptera Dermaptera. Majority family Aphididae (330) under order Hemiptera. Under Gryllidae (46) dominant closely followed Acrididae (45). Among these, species Gryllus spp. Odonata a single Libellulidae (38) identified as Orthetrum sabina Drury, 1773. Endopterygota, 4 orders Hymenoptera common with 740 numbers, Diptera (237), Coleoptera (215) Lepidoptera (89). Coleoptera, 3 families recorded, falling Coccinellidae (172) Cicindelidae. Hymenopteran comprised majorly ants, belonging Formicidae, which identified. consisted Ariadne merione Cramer, 1779 Nymphalidae. Arachinda Araneae. Araneae pertained Araneidae, Lycosidae Thomisidae. Genetic diversity and relationships in native Hawaiian Saccharum officinarum sugarcane.

Commercial sugarcane hybrid cultivars currently in production are high-yielding, disease-resistant, millable canes and are the result of years of breeding work. In Hawaii, these commercial hybrids are quite distinct from many Saccharum officinarum canes still in existence that were brought to the islands and cultivated by the native Polynesians. The actual genetic relationships among the native...

Phenolic composition and antioxidant activity of culms and sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) products

The present work reports amounts of flavonoids and phenylpropanoids of culms of three sugarcane varieties and of raw juice, syrup, molasse and VHP sugar. The antioxidant activity of those materials was evaluated by the DPPH and b-carotene/linoleic acid methods. The predominant phenolics in culms were phenylpropanoids (caffeic, chlorogenic and coumaric acids), while flavones (apigenin, tricin an...

Cloning, expression and characterization of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) transketolase.

Pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) composed of two functionally-connected phases, the oxidative and non-oxidative phase. Both phases catalysed by a series of enzymes. Transketolase is one of key enzymes of non-oxidative phase in which transfer two carbon units from fructose-6-phosphate to erythrose-4-phosphate and convert glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate to xylulose-5-phosphate. In plant, erythrose-4-ph...

Tissue Culture Strategies in Sugarcane (saccharum Officinarum L.)

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) has wide range of economic importance due to its major and by-products. Seed multiplication of newly released varieties of sugarcane is one of the major constraints. Once a desired clone is identified, it usually takes 6-7 years to produce sufficient quality of improved seed material. This long duration causes a major bottleneck in breeding programmes. For t...

Line x tester analysis in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum)

Combining ability variances and effects were estimated for important agronomic and biochemical traits in sugarcane using line x tester mating design. Five commercially grown varieties and one line from germplasm collection were involved in this study of which three were used as females (lines) and three as males (testers). The six agronomic characters studied were number of millable stalk per s...
